Outdoor Explorers

Bolshaw Primary School has established Outdoor Explorers to further enhance the children’s outdoor learning experiences in the Early Years Foundation Stage. These sessions currently take place on Thursday mornings, led by Mrs Russ (Level 3 Forest School Practitioner)

Our Outdoor Explorers sessions draw on the Forest School ethos, following a child led, enquiry approach to learning in our natural woodland setting which is ongoing throughout the year. The children are encouraged to join in with exploring, games, storytelling, songs, crafts, shelter building, using tools, mud and nature art, bug hunting and much more. These sessions will support many of the aspects of the EYFS curriculum and will have a strong emphasis on raising the children’s self-esteem and independence.

An integral part of Outdoor Explorers is that the children will experience the outdoors in all seasons and the weather they bring. (With the exception of very high winds and thunderstorms)

Children wear protective clothing and they can get very MUDDY! Please do go to the Forest School page to access our Bolshaw Forest School Handbook for full details.

Outdoor Explorers sessions allow the children time and space to explore, whilst keeping themselves and others safe, caring for, managing and understanding our school environment and developing a love and understanding of the natural world.
